NETS - T Standards

Are you where you should be as far as your tech knowledge? You can't change the past. What should your student teaching experience look like to move to the next level of technology knowledge?

I think I'm where I need to be for now. I believe that I am into the Professional Prep. stage, but not very far. During my student teaching, I believe it will be more "on your own." It will be essential to be able to work "on your own" with technology because there will always be something new to keep up with. There will not always be someone there to fix your problem. It will also be essential because as of now, the future is based on technology and children need to know how to use many different tools of technology in many different ways.

After reading the profiles of the different phases, I feel I am familiar with all of the general preparation standards. The last standard under Professional Preparations is to identify and use assistive technologies to meet the special physical needs of students. I could be more aware of technologies available for special needs students. I am not familiar with the educational games and software available for students which is an area where I can boost students’ learning. A few other standards from the Professional Preparation, I feel I will gain/strengthen from this class. Through my student teaching, I hope to gain methods to use to measure students’ technological knowledge. I hope to find new ideas of assignments from other experienced teachers that work well in the classroom. Through my student teaching, my mentor should monitor my technology based lessons to ensure that they meet the technology standards for students. My student teaching will be a great chance for me to practice implementing technology into instruction and as an activity/assignment.

I feel like I am on the average of where I should be. I am not above, but I am not completely inexperienced with technology.

I feel as though my student teaching experience should allow me to use available technology resources in the classroom to help enhance my experience. I also feel as though my mentors should also assist me in how to apply the technology that they have available into the lessons in which they will expect me to teach. They may have differences in technology and in lesson plans from what I have learned, and I hope that I will have a mentor to help guide me through the learning process. I also plan to be able to integrate technology into my lesson plans, such as involving the students with the technology experiences. As a student teacher, I also feel as though I should maintain a professional working relationship with my mentors and supervisors via email and other technological communication methods. There is a level of professionalism that must be taken in such a situation; therefore, I hope to use that time to practice collaborative professionalism.

I am probably not as familiar as I should be with my technology knowledge. I use a computer on a daily basis; therefore, I can manage pretty well. However, when I was reading all the standards, I did get a bit lost in all of the wording. In this day and age, I know that it is crucial that technology is used quite frequently in the classroom. Kids are probably using technology at home; therefore, they are going to be more interested in their educational learning if it is there as well. One thing I was a little confused about on the standards is identifying the health and safety issues related to technology in schools.
I do want to be proficient with technology and be able to use it on a regular base in my classroom. I hope to learn more about the requirements and standards through this course so I am able to meet those needs. The more a teacher can do to make their classroom more interesting and exciting the better.

No, I think that I can always improve on my understanding of the standards for technology use in the classroom and this class is going to be a great opportunity to learn some of those ways. I hope that my student teaching supervisor can show me some useful ways that technology is already being used in that particular school and also help me introduce new ways to use techology into thier schoolwork.

I need to become more familiar with common hardware/software devices, technical tools, and information resources. I am comfortable with basic technological knowledge, but I need to learn how to solve problems with less frustration. This will make my job much easier and I will be a better teacher. For example, I would like to be able to plan a lesson using electronic instruction, and if something goes wrong, I would like to have the knowledge to fix it. Also, I need to learn more about the information resources that are available.
Teachers are role models to students in many aspects. I need to become more proficient with technological knowledge, so I can be a good role model.

I need quite a bit of work. I am comfortable with the basics, but anything further than that is a headache. First, I would really like to be able to solve basic hardware/software problems on my own. Once I can do this I would be much more comfortable teaching a lesson using electronic instruction if I was confident in my abilities to solve problems as they arise. On that note, I also need to become more familiar with technological tools and information resources that are available. I need to know how to plan a lesson using electron instruction, but this would be very difficult with my current knowledge in this area. There are many things that I need to learn, so I can be a good mentor to my students in this subject.

Yes,

I do believe I am where I need to be as far as standards go and at what level I am currently at (which is level II, or professional preparation). I always feel, however, that there is always room for improvement. Technology is constantly changing!

When I finish student teaching, I hope to become more familiarized with different ways teachers incorporate technology into assignments at a young age (K-6). We never used the computer for academic achievement whan I was in elementary school, besides playing "Oregon Trail." Based on this, I will be very anxious to find out how technology is used at a young age in schools.

Concerning my professional knowledge of using technololgy i feel I am pretty much on course and could demonstate the necessary task listed, such as using computer programs in the classroom to review subjects being taught, communicating with others on the web and establishing activities dealing with technology in the classroom. As for the student teaching section I feel I just strach the service on the items listed. I need to become more aware of how to use different approaches than just computer games, activies and navigation using technology. I need to learn how to create my own tech games and centers for the students to use. Therefore I am ready to learn the necessary task that will help me further the growth of myself and my students.

I do believe I am where I should be I right now, but feel if I am not taught more I will be behind when I get in a classroom with students.
When I am student teaching I would like to impress in my students the importance of technology and how it is so useful. I hope to learn more about how to use the upscale technology in the classroom and how to incorporate it in with my lessons that I teach. I also would like to know how to fix small problems that I find difficult to fix right now. So, my student teaching experience should look like I am cofident in fixing problems and using technology in my classroom.

Yes, I think that I am where I should be, but can always use more knowledge and skills of technology.
I would like this class to teach me some creative ways to use technology in my classroom and while I am student teaching so I can impress my mentor teacher with my creativity.

Yes, but you can always learn more.

I dont feel that I am completely on track to be where I should be. There are a few things on the list I have no idea on how to do. As for my student teaching, I think I should work hard to incorporate as much technology as possible. It does however depend on where I do student teaching and in what grade. Some schools have more technology opportunities. Also if you student teach in a first grade class powerpoints and other technologies probably arent a good idea.

After reading over the NETS-T I have a basic understanding of where I am and where I should be. Most of the more basic ideas throughout the document are already covered such as the use of technology, a basic understanding, to an extent basic problem solving skills. However there are many more concepts that are not covered. Some will come from experience, but some I have just not delved into such as to creation of lesson plans or integration of technology for the students. There was a underlying tone within the standards that if less about what the teacher can do for himself, but more for what the teacher can do to show his students in each of their career fields. My level is as good as I can expect right now. I believe that I have made the best use of technology in college especially in my career field taking advantage of programs such as Latex or Maple. As I make the transition into student teaching I will try to integrate technology as much as possible. Taking advantage of all my resources will help me move to the next level.

i feel that i am where i need to be. my student teaching supervisor and mentors need to show me how to use some of the equipment in the classroom. i will also need help in creating a digital grade book in excell or another program. i feel there needs to be a certain level of technalogical professionality amoung all teachers and i am striving to reach that.

I feel like I am doing pretty well with my technological skills, compared to the level I am in college. I do feel like there is so much more to learn before I get into the classroom. I want my students to know that in today's society, technology is a must and should be learned accordingly. Our world could not function without technology and the great thing about it is that it is always expanding. We need our students to grow as technology grows!

I feel like I am where I should be as far a technology knowledge side of things. I would hope that my student teaching will mainly be there to give me experience working with technology. I feel like for the most part looking at the standards that I could do everything. I have not gotten the chance to yet. So as far as technology is concerned, then I am only looking for experience and helpful tips from my student teaching experience. The actual teaching side is a different story.
